The physics of tuning|
Visualization is the key to intonation in performance. The key is "hearing" a pitch before playing it.
It's easier to start with arpeggios. Try playing an easy arpeggio very slowly, such as whole notes at quarter note equals 60. Use the first two beats to adjust your pitch to the correct intonation, and the second two beats to visualize the next pitch.
When you find that you're spending all four beats playing in tune, try increasing the tempo. The tuner won't handle fast tempos -- eventually you'll have to rely on the best tuner available, your own musician's ears!
